Thomas "Tom" Bottoni and John Maturo started as childhood friends, growing up together playing baseball in Brooklyn. They both joined the NYPD and in 1968, decided to create "BOMAT", combining their two names, for a business they were starting out of the trunk of their NYPD patrol car. At the time, they were selling police leather goods, household wall decor, and trinkets to the fellow guys on the job. As the years went on, Tom and John ran the business from two locations, one in Staten Island and the other in Rockland County, the latter of which is still home to the business today.
The two men continued to grow the business from both locations over the next 20 years. This included expanding their products to include police plaques and memorabilia.

Throughout the years, Tom's eldest son Thomas helped out with the business, making sure every customer he interacted with felt important. He along with Tom and John continued to grow BOMAT, forming strong relationships with various police departments and associations. Together the trio expanded the business further with more customization and products including police merchandise, creative awards, additional leather goods, apparel and more.
In 2008, Tom officially decided to pass the business onto his son, moving to Florida to retire with his wife Connie. A few years later, Tom Bottoni passed away. Despite this, Thomas continued to work alongside John until he also passed away in 2020. The business continues in their honor.

Today, Thomas continues to run BOMAT out of Rockland County, expanding and developing the business as his father and John did before him. Thomas is known for his devotion to making all customers happy, and is always no more than a phone call or email away.
His two sons, Tyler and Brandon, help to support their father with BOMAT, hoping to one day add to the continuing success of BOMAT.
